Our privacy pledge
Many of us come from families that learned, the hard way, to be careful with our names and our information. We built Yekjan with that history in mind.
- We will never sell your information — to anyone, ever. No advertisers, no data brokers, no exceptions.
- Nothing is ever public. There are no public profiles, and search engines cannot see members.
- Your information is encrypted and stored in the United States, and we hold it to the European GDPR standard by choice. Yekjan is run from the United States, so US law applies to us. Nothing we hold is stored in, routed through, or reachable by anyone in Iran.
- This page uses no cookies and no trackers. Not Google's, not Facebook's, not anyone's. We count how many people visit, on our own server, and nothing else.
- We ask for the minimum. Today that is your email address — no phone number, no photo, no last name, and never your exact location.
- You own your information. Email privacy@yekjan.com and we will delete everything within 48 hours, no questions asked.
- If Yekjan has not launched within 12 months, we delete the whole list. We would rather hold nothing than hold it carelessly.

Who is responsible
Yekjan is run by Yekjan LLC, 4550 SW Betts Ave, PO Box 2007, Beaverton, OR 97005, USA. For anything at all to do with your information, write to privacy@yekjan.com. A person reads that address.
What we collect
At this stage: your email address, which language you used the site in, which printed card you scanned, whether you signed up for yourself or for someone you care about, and the two consents you gave with the date and the exact wording you agreed to.
We do not ask for your name, your phone number, a photograph, your address, or your location. We do not record your IP address and we set no cookies.
We must be straightforward about one thing: joining a waitlist for a Bahá'í matchmaking service can indicate your religious affiliation. European law treats that as especially sensitive, and so do we. That is why we ask for your explicit consent separately, in its own checkbox, and why we hold as little as we possibly can.
Why we collect it
Only to run this waitlist, to confirm your email address is really yours, to tell you when Payvand launches, and to prepare thoughtful introductions for you when it does. Nothing else. Never advertising.
The legal basis is your consent — Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR for ordinary information, and Article 9(2)(a), explicit consent, for anything that may reveal religious affiliation. We keep a record of which version of the wording you agreed to, and when. The current version is v2-2026-09.
Where it is kept
Encrypted, in the United States, and held to the European GDPR standard by our own choice. Nothing is stored in, routed through, or reachable from Iran.
A small number of companies help us run the service, under contracts that forbid them using your information for anything of their own: Supabase (the database, Oregon, USA), Vercel (hosting), and Resend (sending the confirmation email). These are United States companies and the data is held in the United States; for anyone writing to us from Europe, we rely on the standard European safeguards for that transfer. We use no advertising networks and no analytics companies, of any kind.
How long we keep it
- If you never confirm your email address, we delete your entry after 30 days. You never really joined.
- If you confirm, we keep it until Payvand launches, and then until 12 months of no activity, after which we delete it.
- If Payvand has not launched within 12 months, we delete everything. We would rather hold nothing than hold it carelessly.
Your rights
You can ask to see what we hold, correct it, have it deleted, take a copy elsewhere, or withdraw your consent — at any time, without having to give a reason, and without any disadvantage to you. Write to privacy@yekjan.com. We act on deletion requests within 48 hours and on everything else within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you may complain to your national data protection authority.
Cookies, tracking, and decisions made by computer
This site sets no cookies and runs no trackers, which is why you see no cookie banner — there is nothing to consent to. We count how many times each printed card is scanned, as a plain total on our own server, with nothing recorded about who scanned it. Nothing about you is decided automatically, and we do not profile you.
Age
Payvand is for adults aged 18 and over.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will email everyone on the list rather than quietly editing this page.
