Our privacy pledge
Many of us come from families that learned, the hard way, to be careful with our names and our information. We built Yekjan with that history in mind.
- We will never sell your information — to anyone, ever. No advertisers, no data brokers, no exceptions.
- Nothing is ever public. There are no public profiles, and search engines cannot see members.
- Your information is encrypted and stored in the United States, and we hold it to the European GDPR standard by choice. Yekjan is run from the United States, so US law applies to us. Nothing we hold is stored in, routed through, or reachable by anyone in Iran.
- This page uses no cookies and no trackers. Not Google's, not Facebook's, not anyone's. We count how many people visit, on our own server, and nothing else.
- We ask for the minimum at every step. Joining takes an email address and nothing else — no phone number, no photo, no last name. If you go on to answer the private questionnaire, you choose what to fill in, most of it is optional, and none of it is ever public.
- You own your information. Email privacy@yekjan.com and we will delete everything within 48 hours, no questions asked.
- If Yekjan has not launched within 12 months, we delete the whole list. We would rather hold nothing than hold it carelessly.

Who is responsible
Yekjan is run by Yekjan LLC, 4550 SW Betts Ave, PO Box 2007, Beaverton, OR 97005, USA. For anything at all to do with your information, write to privacy@yekjan.com. A person reads that address.
What we collect
Step 1, joining the waitlist. Your email address, which language you used the site in, which printed card you scanned, whether you signed up for yourself or for someone you care about, and the two consents you gave with the date and the exact wording you agreed to. Nothing else.
Step 2, the private questionnaire. Only if you choose to answer it, and only from the link in your own email. It asks about who you are (your first name, your last name, whether you are a woman or a man, the year you were born, the city and country you live in, where you were raised, the languages you speak, and optionally your height), your life (education, work, marital status, children, whether you could move), your faith and family (your connection to community life, how you live the Bahá'í laws, how you would like your family involved), what you hope for in marriage and in a partner, and a little about you. A few of those answers are in your own words. You may also, entirely optionally, give a WhatsApp number and a LinkedIn or Instagram address.
Who sees what. Your last name, your WhatsApp number and any social link are seen only by our small founding team, and are never shown to another member. When we eventually introduce you to someone, they see your first name, your age, your city, your education, the languages you speak, and three answers that you choose. Nothing else about you reaches another member, ever, and nothing is public.
We never ask for your income, your exact date of birth, your home address, anything about your health, or any government identity document. One more thing, because it is about you: the people who run Yekjan can attach a short working note to your entry — “did not receive the confirmation, re-sent it on the 5th”, that kind of thing — and a tag from a short fixed list. Those are factual and operational, never an opinion about you, they are deleted with the rest of your entry, and you can ask to see them. There is no photograph anywhere in the service today. We do not record your IP address, and we set no cookies.
We must be straightforward about one thing: joining a waitlist for a Bahá'í matchmaking service can indicate your religious affiliation. European law treats that as especially sensitive, and so do we. That is why we ask for your explicit consent separately, in its own checkbox, and why we hold as little as we possibly can.
Why we collect it
Only to run this waitlist, to confirm your email address is really yours, to tell you when Yekjan launches, and to prepare thoughtful introductions for you when it does. If you have confirmed your address and not yet answered the questionnaire, we may send you up to two reminders about it — two, ever, a few days apart, and each carries the same one-tap link that deletes everything. Nothing else. Never advertising.
The legal basis is your consent — Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR for ordinary information, and Article 9(2)(a), explicit consent, for anything that may reveal religious affiliation. We keep a record of which version of the wording you agreed to, and when. The current version for joining is v2-2026-09, and for the questionnaire it is s2-v1-2026-09. The questionnaire asks for your explicit consent again, separately, because it collects more than joining does and consent stretched to cover what was not described is not explicit consent.
Where it is kept
Encrypted, in the United States, and held to the European GDPR standard by our own choice. Nothing is stored in, routed through, or reachable from Iran.
A small number of companies help us run the service, under contracts that forbid them using your information for anything of their own: Supabase (the database, Oregon, USA), Vercel (hosting), and Resend (sending the confirmation email). These are United States companies and the data is held in the United States; for anyone writing to us from Europe, we rely on the standard European safeguards for that transfer. We use no advertising networks and no analytics companies, of any kind.
How long we keep it
- If you never confirm your email address, we delete your entry after 30 days. You never really joined.
- If you confirm, we keep it until Yekjan launches, and then until 12 months of no activity, after which we delete it.
- Your questionnaire answers live and die with your entry. They are not kept separately, they are not archived, and the one-tap removal link in any of our emails deletes them at the same moment it deletes your address.
- If Yekjan has not launched within 12 months, we delete everything. We would rather hold nothing than hold it carelessly.
Your rights
You can ask to see what we hold, correct it, have it deleted, take a copy elsewhere, or withdraw your consent — at any time, without having to give a reason, and without any disadvantage to you. Write to privacy@yekjan.com. We act on deletion requests within 48 hours and on everything else within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you may complain to your national data protection authority.
Cookies, tracking, and decisions made by computer
This site sets no cookies in your browser and runs no trackers, which is why you see no cookie banner — there is nothing to consent to. We count how many times each printed card is scanned, as a plain total on our own server, with nothing recorded about who scanned it. Nothing about you is decided automatically, and we do not profile you.
One exception, and it is not about you: when the people who run Yekjan sign in to the private staff page to manage the list, that sign-in sets a single cookie in theirbrowser (and, once, while they set up their authenticator, a second one that lives five minutes on that setup page alone). Neither is ever set in a visitor's browser, neither holds anything about you, and each is only ever sent to the staff page it belongs to.
Age
Yekjan is for adults aged 18 and over. The questionnaire asks for the year you were born and will not accept an answer under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will email everyone on the list rather than quietly editing this page.
