Terms of use

Last updated 18 August 2026

Plain terms for a small service. If anything here is unclear, ask — the address is at the bottom and a real person reads it.

1. Who runs this

Yekjan is run by Yekjan LLC, 4550 SW Betts Ave, PO Box 2007, Beaverton, OR 97005, USA, in the United States. Writing to the address at the bottom of this page reaches us.

We are an independent initiative by members of the Bahá'í community. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or speaking for any Bahá'í institution, and nothing here should be read as their view.

2. What this is, and what it is not

Right now Yekjan is a waitlist and nothing more. You give us an email address; we tell you when the service opens. There is no matching, no profile, no messaging, and no member list you can browse — none of that exists yet.

We are not a marriage bureau, an agency, or a matchmaker acting on your behalf. We introduce nobody today and we promise nobody in future. When the service does open it will be introductions between adults who choose for themselves, and the choosing stays yours.

We do not guarantee that the service will open, or when, or that any particular person will be on it. If we decide not to continue we will tell everyone on the list and delete the list.

3. Who can join

You must be 18 or over and legally free to marry. You may sign up for yourself. You may not add somebody else's email address — not a friend's, not a relative's, not your child's. That rule is not administrative tidiness: being on this list says something about a person's religion, and that is theirs to disclose and nobody else's.

4. Using the service fairly

Do not use the form to find out whether a particular address is already registered. Do not submit addresses in bulk, automatically, or repeatedly. Do not attempt to reach data belonging to anyone else. If we believe an entry was added by somebody other than its owner, we delete it without notice.

5. Your information

What we collect, why, and how to have it deleted is set out on the privacy pledge. It is short and it is the more important document of the two. In summary: an email address, the two consents you tick, and nothing else — no name, no phone number, no photograph, no cookies, no trackers.

Every email we send carries a link that deletes your entry in one tap, with no questions and no login. You never need our permission or our cooperation to leave.

6. Changes and closing

We may change these terms. If a change matters to you — anything about what we do with your information — we will email everyone on the list before it takes effect, not after. Minor wording fixes we will simply date at the top.

You may leave at any moment using the link in any email. We may close the service or remove an entry that breaks the rules above.

7. Law, and being straight about it

Yekjan is run from the United States, so United States law applies to us and the courts there are where a dispute would be heard.

We hold your information to the standard of the European GDPR because we chose to, not because a server location makes us. Our database and the code that serves this site both run in the United States. Where a company is based decides which law binds it; where its servers sit does not. We would rather say that plainly than let a sentence about a server location do work it cannot do.

Nothing here takes away a right you have under the law where you live. If a court finds any part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still stands.

8. Contact

Questions about these terms, about your information, or about anything else: privacy@yekjan.com. A person reads it.
